Test using statistical distance
A hypothesis test for whether a population's mean, μ, has some specific value can use the sample mean as a test statistic, provided the population standard deviation, σ, is a known value. However it can also be based on the statistical distance of the sample mean to the null-hypothesis value for μ.

This example shows how statistical distances can be used to test the value of a mean, μ.
The next example also uses statistical distances to perform a test.
