A first look at the data

The first step in analysis is to look at the data.

Scatterplot

The scatterplot shows a strong relationship between slug weight and length — longer slugs tend to be heavier. The diagram also displays the marginal distributions of weight and length; note that the slug weights have a highly skew distribution.

Click any cross to display that slug's length and weight.

Modelling the Relationship

A scatterplot of the slug data shows a distinct relationship between the weight and length of the slugs — long slugs tend to also be heavier. This observation is hardly unexpected! However to help understand how slugs grow, it is useful to model the relationship between weight and length.
