A generalisation of paired data

Experiments with paired data are effective ways to compare two treatments. More than two treatments can be compared if the individuals occur in larger groups — blocks. The experiment is then an example of a randomised block experiment.

Initially we examine experiments in which the number of treatments is the same as the block size. We will relax this requirement later.
