Cumulative frequencies for ordered categories
The heights of the bars in a bar chart show the frequencies of the individual categories. If the categories are ordered, cumulative frequencies are often added to the bar chart. These show the number of values in the data set that are less than or equal to each category.
The exercise below asks a mixture of questions. Some of these can be answered directly from the heights of the bars in the bar chart but others can be answered more easily from the cumulative frequencies.
