Barometric pressure and boiling point of water
In this data set, there seems to be an outlier that can be deleted first. Click Delete outlier.
Choose Quadratic fit from the pull-down menu to fit a quadratic model to the data. Observe that the residuals are now smaller — the fitted pressures are closer to the actual pressures than with a linear model.
In the mid 19th century, J. D. Forbes measured the boiling point of water (degrees Fahrenheit) and barometric pressure (inches of mercury) at 17 locations in the Alps and in Scotland.
