Evaluation of 95% CIs
In practice, a computer is often used to evaluate 95% confidence intervals. However the steps that are followed to evaluate the intervals are also important in their own right, so it is useful to get some practice at evaluating confidence intervals by hand.
The exercises below give practice with the calculations for a 95% confidence interval for the difference between two group means.
For the data set below, evaluate a 95% confidence interval for the difference between the population means. Use the green templates on the right of the diagram to help with your calculations.
Repeat with different data sets until you feel confident about the method.
