The diagram below gives practice with the process of assessing a sample slope.

  1. Evaluate the t-value using the green template at the top right.
  2. Set the degrees of freedom with the slider.
  3. Drag over the t-distribution to find the probability of getting a t-value less than this.
  4. The p-value is twice the tail area; type this value into the p-value box at the bottom right.
  5. Select your conclusion about the strength of evidence against a zero slope, then click Check

Click Another and repeat with other data sets until you are confident with the method.
