Interpretation of p-values

The p-value from a hypothesis test tells you whether the data are consistent with the null hypothesis. It may be possible to conclude that the null hypothesis is wrong, but it is never possible to conclude that it is correct.

The following guidelines can be criticised as being an over-simplification, but are a reasonable way to interpretation of p-values for all types of hypothesis test.
