Pizza preference: pick the better of two (identical) slices
Use this diagram to introduce the randomness of a sample propn (and count) and their distributions. In particular, show:
Take a few random samples to show that the sample propn varies from sample to sample.
Click Accumulate and take more samples to build up the sampling distn.
Increase the sample size and repeat.
Click Show theory and state that it is possible to work out the distribution theoretically. (Binomial)
The context is a real experiment that was conducted. Sixteen students from a Vancouver school were each given two slices of pizza that they were told came from Pizza Hut and another local shop. Unknown to the students, all slices came from the same outlet. All 16 picked the 'Pizza Hut' slice as best.
The diagram below simulates an experiment where each slice has the same chance of being picked as 'best' so π = 1/2.
