Load Spreadsheet

Select menu: Spread | New | Data in Genstat

This loads data from Genstat into a new spreadsheet.

  1. After you have imported your data, from the menu select Spread | New | Data in Genstat.
  2. Fill in the fields as required then click Load.

Type of spreadsheet

This specifies the type of spreadsheet. For vector spreadsheets, a combination of variates, texts, and factors may be selected. They must be compatible; that is, the same length and if more than one is restricted, the same units should be included in each restriction.

Tables in column format

When selected, tables with two or more margins will be added to a spreadsheet within a single column, otherwise if a table has more than two classifying factors the tables will be added as new sheets. If the tables being added do not match then they will be placed in different sheets. This option does not apply to tables with one dimension.

Available data

This lists data structures appropriate for the specified spreadsheet type. You can double-click a name to copy it to the Data to load field. You can transfer multiple selections from Available data by holding the Ctrl key on your keyboard while selecting items, then click to move them all across in one action.

Data to load

This lists data structures that have been selected for the spreadsheet. For spreadsheets of type Matrix or Table only a single data structure is allowed, vector or scalar spreadsheets may contain more than one data structure.

Notes

When a FSPREADSHEET directive is issued, it will pick up any UNITS structure, if this is the same length as the columns for a VECTOR spreadsheet. This column will be added as a Units column in the spreadsheet (the first column after the Row column, which is raised like the Row numbers). The Units column is fixed to the left hand side, and is not lost from the screen when scrolling to the right.

If multiple tables are selected and some of these have incompatible margins or have 2 or more margins when Tables in column format is not selected, these will be added as separate pages to the book containing the first spreadsheet.

Load to book

This provides a list of books that the new spreadsheet can be added to. The default book that spreadsheets are added to can be specified using the Tools | Spreadsheet Options | menu and clicking the Books tab.
