2D Trellis Plot of Groups – Options

Use this to set attributes to control the appearance of your 2D trellis plot of groups.

Graph title

Lets you enter a title for the graph. The title appears centred at the top of the graph.

Title font

This opens the Edit font menu that lets you control the font for the title.

Plot type

This selects the type of plot to be displayed and whether to include a key in the graphs. All three plots types can be displayed at once, but at least one must be selected.

Bar charts Displays bar-charts with a bar for each group.
Pie charts Displays pie-charts with a segment for each group present.
Scaled pie charts Displays a scaled pie-charts, with the area of each pie chart proportional to the number of observations in the panel with a segment for each group present.
Display key Adds a key below the Trellis plot displaying the group names and colours.

Equal axes

This controls how the partitions and made on the x and y axes.

No The partitions will be made independently on the x and y axes.
Same scaling The partitions will be made so that the range (max – min) on the x and y axes are the same, i.e. if r = max(range(x),range(y)), then the x-axis partitions will be between min(x) and min(x) + r and the y-axis partitions will be between min(y) and min(y) + r.
Same bounds The partitions will be the same on x and y axes, i.e. they will both be between min(min(x),min(y)) and max(max(x),max(y)).

Number of partitions

This specifies the number of partitions (n) in the x and y-axes. Each axis will be split into equal size sections between the minimum and maximum value on that axis, giving n2 panels in the trellis plot. The number of partitions must be between 2 and 15.

Key height

This gives the height of the key at the bottom of the graph, and must be between 0.1 and 0.5.

Pie chart margins

This gives the white space around the pie-charts in separate panels. The value 100 gives the default spacing. This must be between 0 (no spacing between pie charts) and 700 (a large amount of white space between graphs).

Size for labels

For a pie graph, this gives the size of the labels indicating how many observations in each pie chart. The value 1 gives the default size labels. This value must be between 0 (no labels) and 10 (labels 10 times larger than the default).

Colours for groups

This can be used to select the colours for the bars or segments showing the groups. The initial colours are the default Genstat colours for the current Graphics Environment. To change a groups’s colour, select the group’s ordinal number in the drop-down list, and then click the colour button. Use the colour palette to select the new colour.

Edit all fonts as a list

Clicking this opens the Edit All Fonts as a List menu which allows all the fonts in the graph to be set in one place.
