Canonical Variates Analysis Options

This dialog selects the information to be printed from a canonical variates analysis.

Display

This specifies which items of output are to be produced by the analysis.

Latent roots Latent roots (eigenvalues)
Loadings Canonical variate loadings (latent vectors/eigenvectors)
Residuals Residuals (see note below)
Significance tests Significance tests for equality of latent roots
Canonical variate means Canonical variate means and between-group Mahalanobis distances
Scores Canonical variate scores for each unit

Number of dimensions

Specifies how many latent roots and vectors are printed (and saved); the residuals are formed from the remaining dimensions.

Graphics

Specifies which graphical outputs are to be produced by the analysis.

Canonical variate plot

Draws a canonical variate plot of the scores given by the X dimension and Y dimension boxes. The display for the plot can be controlled using the following options:

X dimension The dimension to be plotted on the x-axis. The maximum dimension that can be displayed is set by the Number of dimensions option.
Y dimension The dimension to be plotted on the y-axis. The maximum dimension that can be displayed is set by the Number of dimensions option.
Display confidence region Whether to include a confidence region on the plot. Selecting Means will draw the confidence region about the population means and the setting Populations plots the tolerance region for the populations.
Shade confidence limits with transparency When this is selected, the confidence regions will be shaded with the specified level of transparency, otherwise they will be drawn with a line around the edge of the region. A larger number will lead to the regions being more transparent, and a smaller number to it being more opaque.
Confidence limit (%) Lets you control the confidence limit for the confidence region. The limit is expressed as a percentage and must be in the range 0-100
Display individual units Whether to include the individual units in the plot.
