Edit Column Types

This dialog sets up the column types used in a trial. There are some default column types that you can choose. For each column type, a short name (up to 8 characters) and a description can be set, and any automatic column calculations can also be set. There are then two tick boxes that can be set if seasonal summaries are to be produced for this column type.

Number of columns

This sets the number of columns to define. This must be between 1 and 25.

Set defaults to

This sets the column number and types to those defined for various species. These are currently for GrassBrassicaCloverMaizeFodder Beet and User. The user settings can be defined by editing the settings, and then clicking the Save as user button. Subsequently choosing the User item from the list will then restore the settings from when the Save as user button was clicked.

Name

A short name for the columns of this type. The cut number will be appended to the end of the name to form the individual column names.

Description

A short description for the column type.

Calculation

This defines whether a column type is automatically calculated from other columns. The standard calculation expression is entered with &n as a placeholder for other column types. For each cut, the column is calculated if all the types in the expression are present. For example if types 1 and 2 were green yield and dry matter % respectively, then column type 3 (dry yield) would have a calculation expression &1 * &2/100.

Totals

The total per plot will be calculated for each season by year. Where a cut’s period overlaps more than one season, the cut will be allocated proportionally between the two seasons. So, if a cut had 8 days in spring and 17 in summer, then 8/25 of the cut would be allocated to the spring total and 17/25 to the summer total.

Means

The seasonal mean per plot over all columns that fall into that season and year will be calculated.
