Add Calculated Column

Use this menu to create a calculated column which may be a sum, mean, or weighted sum of other columns in the trial.

Select columns to use

This lists the current columns in the trial. The calculation will use the items selected in this list. Use the mouse and the Shift or Ctrl keys to select multiple columns in the list.

Calculation type

Sum	calculate the sum or total of the selected columns
Mean	calculate the mean or average of the selected columns
Weighted sum	calculate a weighted sum or total of the selected columns, where each of the selected items is multiplied by the values in the Enter weights field before forming the sum

Column name

The column name for the resulting calculation.

Description

A description for the column which will be displayed in the second line of the column heading.

Enter weights (weighted sum only)

When Weighted sum has been selected, this should be a comma- or space-separated list of numbers giving the weights, with one for each column selected in the Select column to use list. The column values are multiplied by their weights, and then these products are summed.

Note, you can also use the Calculate Row Summary dialog, which allows a summary over the specified columns to be calculated for each row in the spreadsheet. However, this does not cater for weighted totals.

Action buttons

Ok	Calculate the column.
Cancel	Close the dialog without further changes.
